This sweet, clean and any age appropriate read was a fun short read. A second chance story about finding love and your true home was a good Hallmark style read. At a little over a hundred pages, this was a great two hour read for when you are looking to escape with strong characters and fun dialogue. The only drawback to such a short story is that it does tend to be a little predictable, but this is something that gets a pass for me because of the strength of the writing. After being fired from her NYC production assistant job on set by the director, Carly returns to her Grandmother’s farm in the hills of Vermont. Three years earlier she inherited the farm and now has every intention of selling, but – in true rom com fashion, it is the farm that reconnects with her childhood sweetheart Boone and the town that was the place of so many happy summer vacation memories. But, will Carly sell out to the land developers? Is there another option? Will this decision become an opportunity for her to discover who she really is and what she really wants? Again, this has all the hallmarks of a classic second chance romance, but it is a well written story that kept me engaged and a series that I will revisit to see what happens next.
Brief Summary of Whatever Happened to My Ex
A cute if predictable tale about big-city-girl-rediscovering-life-in-the-country (and a hunky handyman helps). The best character was the dragon-lady mother — always perfectly put together, controlling, but also loving. And she had reasons for being that way, so there was some depth there. I couldn’t find myself caring much about the other characters. The writing was solid but the pacing was kinda like watching icicles melt. . . way too slow
