Living in a bunker with a kind family but closed off from other survivors, Sammie felt woefully inadequate when she had to leave this shelter, because one of the sons (Lucas) cracked up and killed all of his family except one brother (Billie). Billie helps Sammie escape and gives her instructions on how to reach a survivor’s site, while he distracts his deranged, homicidal brother. This is how book 6 opens. The alien scourge is still consuming all living things on Earth and the cloned Xarc’n warriors are dedicated to eradicating it. Unknown to Sammie there is one such warrior, Drak’l, who has been cautiously following her scent…that of his potential mate. Besides the usual initial reluctance of human females towards Xarc’n warrior’s amorous intentions, this book delves into their outlooks for a future on Earth. The author intelligently weaves this intergalactic romance with uniting the Xarc’n physical prowess and human ingenuity to find a solution to the scourge. The story revolves around Drak’l and Sammie’s mating dance, their insecurities, their language differences, and their social awkwardness in accepting new friends. Brief Summary of Hunter’s Bounty
Another book in the Xarc’n hunters series. The bug apocalypse has devastated Earth. The Xarc’n hunters were genetically created to fight the giant bugs that invade the planets. Earth has been devastated by the invasion of the giant bugs. Cities are decimated trying to rid the Earth of the killer bugs. It is best to read the series in order to better follow and understand each book. Drak’l is a Xarc’n warrior. He knows that he smelled his mate on one of his hunts. But the human doesn’t trust him. Drak’l rescues Sammie from the bugs. Yet when he touch her he doesn’t feel the mating pull at all. His arms doesn’t automatically lock around Sammie. Drak’l knows she is the one but his body is not showing the signs. Sammie has survived the bug apocalypse. She has been with a group of humans in a bunker. But that group is becoming cult like. They expect her to marry the older son. The older son Lucas has snapped and killed his parents. Sammie and Billy escaped. Lucas is hunting them. Billy tells Sammie to find the human and Xarc’n encampment. Sammie is trying to find her way there when she runs into a tall purple alien. She doesn’t believe she is his mate. Sammie just wants to get the the encampment. She will wait for Billy there.
