The storyline is well written with a personal internal view of 2 adults getting to know each other environmentally, familial, emotional and sexual. Bardolf & Jane go on a wonderful intimate journey learning each other & their own bodies. What a interesting plus entertaining read. I had been waiting for it to finally arrive & can happily say each of Alice’s books are worth the wait & reading. Each one of her books are different in their own right while definitely connecting to others in the series. We run into people we were introduced to in other books of the series about the kingdom of Karadoc; such as Vawdrey, Queen, Cecil Sisters, & King Bardolf. All in all this is a wonderfully tender love story for all time. The tenderness & rawness of feelings especially of a new groom isn’t something that is portrayed often or as intense as with Jane the new bride. Grab your copy and immerse yourself into this medieval love story. A few pages into Chapter 1 told me it was worth the wait for “The Favourite.” Alisander and Jane were delightful; their clever dialogue smoothly flowed. It is a fun book to read and wiii read again in the not so distant future as I have reread all the books in this series several times.
Brief Summary of the Book
One more 5 STARS book from a well talented author & one of my favorites. Once more she sweeps the readers back to medieval times into the fictional world of Karadoc. This time we are again in the company of the Cecil sisters, Jane & Helen; both are favorites of the court but different factions. Jane, the Queen’s favorite Lady-in-waiting has been put in the position to do a life altering favor for her sister. They hadn’t been close since they were younger, Helen thought Jane was a prude. Viscount Bardolf is. an ambassador for the Western Isles, the Queen’s homeland plus he is also a favorite of hers and he very often spare with Lady Jane about everything. A marriage becomes necessary for Jane (read this book for the complicated reasons), the Queen gets involved, so does Viscount Bardolf & before Jane or anyone knows what’s going on she is married to Bardolf.
