This book is a well-written, witty, sweet and spicy paranormal romance. It had just the right amount of suspense and the action was not too slow or fast spaced. Enough new information at all the right moments to keep your interest going. I stayed up half the night to read it and I don’t regret it at all! It is set in the contemporary world where everybody is trying to adjust after “The Wall” spell – which protected supernatural creatures like shifters and humans with magical abilities like wizards – fell and it was revealed that magic and monsters lived among the humans. In this book the word “monster” is referred to all magical creatures and is not an offensive word. The characters were well built and evolved throughout the book – the seamstress protagonist especially, but also her gargoyle protector, while keeping true to their nature. There were no unbelievable decisions or consequences and the actions were well though and logical in the context of the world. The conflict present in the book had a satisfying conclusion while still leaving enough open for next books.

Shelby is a dress designer and sewing goddess. She just spotted that the courier picked up the wrong box so ended up dashing across town to make sure that the girl marrying the dragon still got her fire-proof outfit. She hadn’t planned on the guy doing security to be such a hard-ass. Still she got in did her job and she had to admit that it was refreshing when he came over to apologise. She might have liked him a little too much for her own good though so making a quick getaway was a sensible choice. She is still thinking about him a week later though and when there is a breakin at her shop and she needs protection, he is the one who walks in. Grayson has been tied up in knots over Shelby since the moment he met her. She wasn’t afraid to stand up for herself or to let him know when she thought he was being unreasonable. She feisty and perfect and most definitely his except she ran out on him at the wedding. He’s trying to find a way to accidentally on purpose see her again but everything he comes up with seems stalkerish, even to him. Then a call comes in for protection from the Wizarding Council and it turns out it is Shelby. Grayson is there like a shot. It gives him an in and maybe he can convince her to get to know him and maybe stay with him after, like forever.
