Grace Taylor left her marriage for the hills of Tennessee where she works at the Crossroads Mountain Retreat. Crossroads is a healing place, both mentally and physically, for injured law enforcement and veterans. She helps others heal, but hasn’t yet dealt with her own issues. Firefighter Zeke Friedman was injured on the job and it was recommended that he seek healing from Crossroads. He had no idea that his ex-wife, Grace, was working at the retreat. She is shocked when she sees him and rebuffs his attempts to talk, to explain why she left him. Danger arrives at the retreat when a female police officer dies during a forest hike. Was her killer someone already in the forest, someone on the hike, or someone from a drug ring that she had arrested? The killer seems intent on setting Zeke up to take the blame as further incidents occur. Grace knows that Zeke would never kill anyone, but can they expose the killer before Grace becomes the next target?
Brief Summary of Crossroads of Betrayal
Grace has been a bit of a mystery during the previous books in the series. She’s a great tracker and friend to those who work at the retreat but we haven’t gotten a chance to learn much about her past. Everyone at the retreat has a unique story and it’s interesting to dive into the characters. Zeke ends up at CMR to heal after an injury but he didn’t plan on running into his ex-wife, but they have a mutual friend who decided it was time for them to face each other. Grace wasn’t ready for Zeke to show up randomly at her job and she wasn’t ready to deal with their past. Zeke finds himself in a lot of trouble with only Grace to help him out of it but who really saves who? Another great addition to the series that I didn’t want to put down. This couple has been through a lot and as they unpack the things they haven’t shared my heart hurt for them but they finally get their HEA
