Loveeeee the Brexley/Warwick dynamic. ESPECIALLY that one scene… ya know the one… in the den of smoke… woooooo that was. Need way more of that in the next book cause that was top tier. The plot was pretty similar to past novels… didn’t love the constant prison/escape/capture (BECAUSE OF THE SAME PERSON) cycle. Would have loved to see the crew go somewhere different, explore something different, any type of scenery that was different would have been great. Was slightly predictable BUT did I rapidly consume? Sure did… read it in a day (apologies to my boss, thank heavens I work remote) I think that’s just because I love the characters… and Opie high?! That’s top tier humor right there. Overall love the bones, wish there was more unpredictability to the story though.

The gang is just beaten down time and time again and it’s very bleak. That said, SMB still finds a way to pack in the spice. These “ghost” versions of Brexley and Warwick are just as real to them as they could be. The “threesome” scene with BOTH Warwicks?? Hot. But at some points, it’s very hard to picture what SMB is trying to convey (usually during the high intensity scenes where something major is happening) but since I love the characters, I usually just go with the flow and check back in mentally once the dust has settled for that particular scene lol. I will say – I am SO EXCITED for the dual narration for the last book. Eva (the original narrator for these first 5 books) has done an amazing job and her ability to do the male voices as well is great.
