Were my feelings hurt the entire time? Yes. Will I read it again even though my feelings were hurt? Absolutely, yes. There were certain twists that made me literally gasp. I personally loved that we got to see The Watchers POV more than Sirena’s this time around. We also got some insight into Asylum’s POV and I think that really helped me not think he was a complete creep lol. I feel like I need to stress this only because some people don’t take it seriously: read the trigger warnings. Did I read them? Yea. Have I read all of K.G’s other books and been fine? Also, yea. But this one made me have to take a nap halfway through because I love these characters so much that I became overstimulated quickly. It’s okay to take a break- the book will still be there when you come back, and it DOES get better. You just have to get through a lot of pain before things balance out again. Moral of the story, amazing read – will do it again. But also, your mental health is important so only go as far as you can, and try again later if you need to.
Brief Summary of the Book
This book is dark and if that’s your cup of tea (be sure to read the trigger warnings) it’s a fantastical read. It’s sets up more of the world these characters are in and we see the consequences of what happened at the end of Church…which these characters will be feeling for a while. Sin being a conflicted and sorry. Church trying to keep his family together while falling apart. Ashes trying to put on his happy face despite everything falling apart. Sirena and Stitches dealing with the consequences front and center. Throwing Seth and Asylum into the mix just adds to the crazy. You may also like The Charismatic Cowboy by Macie St. James
