When I say that I DEVOURED this book, please believe me! I started it late at night, took a cat nap, and finished a few hours later. This first book is about setting up the world, introducing our cast of characters, and falling in love with some and loathing others. If you are the type of reader that can go in blind, I say do it because it makes that much more enjoyable. Our main girl is Evie, and she is not here for the nonsense being fed to them about the purpose of the hunt. Her tongue is sharp, and apart from the few friends she makes, she has one goal and one goal only, to get the coin promised to those not lucky enough to snag a royal husband and go home to make her classroom the best can be. As the story unfolds, you get little clues that Evie is more than even she knows, but there are no confirmations to go with them, so I have conspiracy theories for days. The side characters are all fantastic, well, the ones that are supposed to be, that is, a few of them can go kick rocks with no socks on. Kael, Isla, & Riv each have traits that make them the perfect group of friends for Evie, and I’m excited to see what’s in the future for them. Don’t let the lack of spice deter you! I was on the edge of my seat most of the book, and when I realized the end was nearing, the fact that there was not a drop of spice hadn’t bothered me one bit because the story had me in its clutches. Since this is book 1 in a series, it does end on a cliffhanger. I wasn’t ready to toss my Kindle across the room, but I had to stifle my glee and anger because I was reading too late at night and didn’t want to wake up my partner.
Brief Summary of the Book
A Hunt So Wicked was absolutely amazing. I read it in under a day because the story just traps you and won’t let you go. If you are a fan of Hunger Games, Game of Thrones, Bridgerton then this one is for you. There are so many elements in this story that it leaves you wanting more and more. Ladies from around the kingdoms are summoned by the Royals to attend a Royal Hunt with the eligible royal bachelors. However, it turns dark, quick. The ladies learn they will have to survive in order to gain a husband but our FMC and her friends may not be so agreeable to that. You will find yourself laughing, gasping, and saying “wtf” as you go through this book and you will love every minute of it. There are some twists and turns, great friendships, and some hot alphahole males. You may also like The Thief and the Agent by Cat Johnson
